Trying to eat right is confusing.
It’s hard to know what’s good and not so good for you.
Most of our food choices are packaged crap that has little to no health benefits.
Over 50% of the consumed calories in the US are from Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs).
UPFs are packaged and have lots of ingredients (5 or more). They are typically made in labs from synthesized versions of foods to improve and enhance the taste. UPFs go through multiple processes, are treated with chemicals, and have added ingredients to make them more addictive.
We all eat this stuff. It tastes great but is absolutely horrible for our health. UPFs have been messed with so much it turns the food into nutritionally empty mush that alters our metabolism and induces overeating.
It’s no wonder that 1 in 3 adults are overweight in the US. The majority of our food choices make us fat.
What’s worse is the industry that makes UPFs spends hundreds of millions of dollars on political lobbying to ensure their profits are protected. They can lie and mislead consumers so we keep eating the food that makes us unhealthy.
We are tricked into thinking UPFs have health benefits when they put words on their packaging like low calorie, low fat, gluten-free, all-natural, and on and on and on.
We should mainly eat unprocessed or minimally processed foods. Foods like fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, and legumes should be the cornerstone of our diets.
It’s not easy to avoid UPFs, but we should all try our best to do so.
If something has more than 10 ingredients, don’t eat it.
Your weight, health, and even your life are at risk.
