Steamed Vegetables

Servings: 2-4

Time: 15-25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs vegetables cut into bite sized pieces

    • broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini squash, asparagus, carrots, green beans, bell pepper

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • Add 1-2 inches of water to a pot

  • Place a steamer basket into pot, making sure the water stays under the basket

  • Bring water to a boil

  • Add vegetables to steamer basket, cover the pot, and reduce heat to medium

  • Check vegetables after a few minutes.  Tender vegetables cook faster than harder ones

  • Vegetables are done when the thickest parts can be pierced with a fork

  • Add salt and pepper to taste
